A Day In My Life Using Digital Media
Throughout the week I usually visit the following sites and use the following applications; Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, eBay, Fastenal.com, WhatsApp, Waze navigation, Mercari, and a few others. Instagram is a photo and media sharing social media platform, Facebook is a day to day sharing social media network, TikTok is a very popular video sharing platform, YouTube is a video streaming website, eBay is used to buy and sell almost anything your heart desires, Fastenal.com is an industrial and construction supply website; as well as my work website that I constantly use every day, Waze is used for navigation, and Mercari is a Japanese buying and selling application.
For the most part, I use most of these applications and social media for business practices and getting more connections. Some of the negatives are personal data sharing and my information that all of these companies hold. Overall, I don't have that many negative reactions when using these websites and applications.
I do find that on some days I spend more time on certain social media and applications than others. For example, I spend more time on eBay and Mercari for buying and selling items on the weekends when I have more time. During the work week, I would be on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Fastenal.com; so that I can work on my business posts and get some entertainment. My needs are definitely satisfied by using these websites and apps.
I do receive a lot of emails from some of these websites and applications. Most of them are notification emails from people that I follow or some weekly newsletter. A lot of these websites send over product promotions and specials that they are running. The emails that catch my attention would be the newsletter ones, as well as some interesting articles to read. I look for creative content and delete any Spam that gets through the emails.
While using these popular social media apps, I have noticed that many companies have started a video marketing campaign for their ads. Also, in some apps like TikTok and Instagram, companies can create multiple social media advertisements targeting different products and services, while targeting mixed age and location bases. This has been evolving a lot throughout the last decade. I am also amazed by the number of large companies incorporating some of these social media for their marketing needs. In the end, I can say that I enjoy using all of these websites and apps; they actually help out with some of my daily tasks.
